Digital Yacht partners with Engo ActiveLook Glasses

Digital Yacht have partnered with Engo ActiveLook glasses to bring boat navigation data literally right in front of your eyes!

Simply install the Digital Yacht NAVLink wireless server onto your boat’s NMEA 2000 navigation network, connect your iPhone or iPad wirelessly to NAVLink and run the popular NMEA Remote display app for a local display of data on your iOS device and now also on Engo glasses with the ActiveLook link.  These photochromatic glasses weigh just 41g and incorporate a miniature, wireless head up display projecting data onto the inside of the lens for easy field of view information.  Battery life is 12 hours and they can be quickly recharged.

Data pages, like chapters of real time boat navigation data, are displayed as a head up display within the Engo glass lens.  Up to 3 data fields in each chapter can be displayed and you can swipe through the chapters with a simple hand gesture in front of the glasses.  Popular data like depth, wind, speed, heading and waypoint navigation information can be displayed plus there’s a handy chapter of data for sail racers too. During race pre-start, the user sees the countdown as well as time and distance to the start line. When racing, the chapter offers boat speed, heading and wind angles. The performance matrices for polar speed performance and target wind angles are also visible.

Engine data can also be displayed if available on the NMEA 2000 network.

NAVLink is compatible with 100s apps including popular charting apps like Navionics, TZ iBoat and Aquamaps.  It fits in seconds into any modern boat NMEA 2000 navigation system from Garmin, B&G, Simrad, Furuno, Raymarine etc.  It allows apps to read and utilise GPS, instrument and AIS data from the boat’s main system.  It also supports up to 7 connected devices.

Engo Glasses and the NavLINK data server are available for €495 plus vat.  NMEA Remote is a low cost app available in the iOS App Store that transforms your iPad or iPhone into a sophisticated, multi-function instrument display when connected to NAVLink.  More information at www.digitalyacht.eu.com or see them in action at Allt för sjön, Booth B02-11
