QtVlm Now Supports NMEA 2000 Data from Digital Yacht Interfaces

Connect your onboard NMEA 2000 network directly to QtVlm, without converting data to NMEA 0183, and unlock access to a wider range of navigation information.

Digital Yacht is pleased to announce that the navigation software QtVlm, developed by Meltemus, now supports raw NMEA 2000 data from compatible Digital Yacht interfaces, including the NavLink and iKonvert USB.

This integration allows QtVlm to receive NMEA 2000 data directly via USB or Wi-Fi, depending on the interface used, without requiring an intermediate conversion to NMEA 0183.

Direct access to raw NMEA 2000 data

Traditionally, connecting an NMEA 2000 network to navigation software has often involved converting the data into NMEA 0183 sentences before sending it to a computer via USB or Wi-Fi.

With this new compatibility, QtVlm can access raw NMEA 2000 data directly through supported Digital Yacht interfaces. This removes the need for an intermediate NMEA 0183 conversion and allows the software to work with the original NMEA 2000 data format.

NMEA 2000 supports a broader range of data types than NMEA 0183, making direct access particularly valuable for sailors who want to get more information from their onboard electronics.

Access more information from your onboard equipment

An NMEA 2000 network brings together data from multiple onboard devices, including navigation instruments, wind sensors, sailing instruments, engine monitoring systems, heading sensors and other compatible marine electronics.

By receiving raw NMEA 2000 data, QtVlm can access information that may not be available through a traditional NMEA 0183 conversion. The data available within the software will depend on the messages supported by QtVlm and the connected equipment.

Which Digital Yacht interfaces are compatible?

Digital Yacht offers several interfaces for connecting computers and navigation applications to an NMEA 2000 network.

  • NavLink : It provides wireless access to NMEA 2000 network data, allowing compatible navigation applications to receive onboard information over Wi-Fi.
  • iKonvert USB – It provides a direct USB connection between a computer and an NMEA 2000 network, enabling compatible software to access onboard data.

The appropriate interface depends on your installation and whether you prefer a USB or Wi-Fi connection.

Better Integration Between Your NMEA 2000 Equipment and QtVlm Navigation Software

This direct access to raw NMEA 2000 data provides better integration between your onboard marine electronics and QtVlm navigation software.

By eliminating the need for conversion to NMEA 0183, compatible Digital Yacht interfaces allow QtVlm to access a wider range of data from your connected equipment, helping you get more out of your onboard NMEA 2000 network and enjoy a more complete navigation experience.
