Digital Yacht’s new SPL1500 AIS-VHF antenna splitter promises to make installing an AIS transponder easier – enabling the AIS to share the boat’s main VHF antenna. It uses Digital Yacht’s patented ZeroLoss technology for excellent performance. The existing VHF antenna is disconnected from the VHF and connected directly to the SPL1500. Patch leads are supplied for connecting the AIS transponder and VHF to the splitter so installation literally takes seconds.
The SPL1500 is waterproof and aesthetically matches the Digital Yacht AIT1500 Class B transponder which has a built in GPS antenna allowing for a “no external antennas” solution on many vessels. This may be a great solution for center consoles, tenders and RIBs as well as smaller sail boats who don’t want extra antenna clutter on the stern rail. The SPL1500 will work with any Class B transponder as well as any AIS receive only equipment.
It’s available now and is priced at GBP £195 ex vat/USD $279.95
