Digital Yacht have been nominated for two DAME Awards at this years 2018 METS marine equipment show.
4G Connect with its Amazon Alexa integration appealed to the judges. It’s a 4G web/internet access solution for boats offering ranges up to 20NM offshore. Insert you choice of SIM card and it will create a local wifi network onboard for your PC, tablets and smartphones to get online. It’s fast too thanks to the use of MIMO (multiple in multiple out) technology and the recommended Pro version for yachts ships with two external antennas to support this. However, it can also connect to the “Amazon” cloud and supports an Alexa app – just say: “Alexa! – Ask iKommunicate my position, wind or depth” and she’ll read back NMEA data through the interface with the Digital Yacht iKommunicate gateway or you can view the data through a web browser. Welcome to the connected boat, with Netflix too….
The new version of iAIS which is a free app for iOS also caught their eye.
Digital Yacht have added Navionics compatability so users of the popular Navionics app can display on board AIS data with an overlay of detailed Navionics charts without the need to repurchase charts. Just connect wirelessly on your phone or tablet to any compatible AIS or NMEA-WiFi server and you’re in business.
