LANLink is a new product from Digital Yacht which acts as a NMEA to ethernet data gateway.
NMEA interfacing is used extensively on boats, allowing electronic items to integrate and share data. Systems have evolved from NMEA 0183 formats to the later NMEA 2000 standard which uses a robust Canbus network to interlink equipment. Many boats also have a wifi or 4G network for internet access and LANLink gets NMEA data interconnected so there’s one high speed network accross the boat for internet and NMEA data. Apps running on smart phones, iPads, PCs or tablets can then use this data seamlessly and become an integrated part of the boat’s navigation system with electronic charting and instrument displays.
LANLink is available in two versions suitable for NMEA 0183 or NMEA 2000 networks and offers plug ‘n play connectivity with a simple interface for setup and connection to the router network. Getting NMEA data into apps adds extra fuctionality such as AIS target displays on popular software like Navionics and TimeZero or wind and weather routing on performance programs like Expedition or Weather 4D.
LANLink is priced from £140/€185/US$199. More information available on Digital Yacht websites and a dedicated video HERE
