Digital Yacht’s USB-C NMEA cable & gateways connect the latest PCs to boat navigation networks

Digital Yacht have added USB C connectivity to their range of NMEA interfacing gateways allowing the latest generation of PCs and MACs to connect into boat NMEA 0183 and 2000 networks. USB connectors are utilised on all PCs but have been through several iterations from original USB A through to the new, reversible mini USB C type which offers multi device and higher speed interfacing.

The new USB-C NMEA cable from Digital Yacht is a USB C style cable which incorporates a NMEA 0183 gateway allowing navigation data such as AIS, GPS and instruments to be interfaced with the PC. It’s compatible with all leading marine software such as TimeZero, Maptech, SeaPro, Coastal Explorer and SmarterTrack. The unit is also bi-directional so can handle both input and output (say for an autopilot as an example)

Plug in and the device will create a COM port connection automatically on modern Windows and MAC systems. It’s compatible with Win XP right through to Win 11 and can be used for 4800 baud standard NMEA systems and 38400 HS interfacing.

For NMEA 2000 systems, Digital Yacht’s iKonvert unit is also available with a USB C connector. Retail price start from £44/$64.95
