GPS160 gets an upgrade

Our popular GPS160 has started shipping with a new configuration and hardware change which also allows reception of the Chinese GNSS system – Beidou. Initially this system was designed just for local China/Asia operation but the system now operates globally.

Digital Yacht GPS160 family products manufactured from October 2023 now have this satellite constellation tracking ability. With the Beidou constellation addition, it means over 100 satellites can now be tracked – resulting in improved time to first fix, more robust operation against jamming, “spoofing” and outages and also improved current consumption (<25mA)

Our original TriNav technology utilised GPS, Glonass and Galileo satellite systems for typical 1m accuracy and super fast updates for smooth plotter redraws and fast speed and course information. Internally the GPS160 can be set up as a dedicated sensor or the multiple satellite constellations utilised for improved position accuracy.

While TriNav internally has improved, it looks and acts the same with options for NMEA 0183, NMEA 2000, wireless and even original SeaTalk 1 interfacing. There is also a version with custom Furuno data output suitable for use as a replacement with older Furuno systems
