NavAlert NMEA 2000 Monitoring System from Digital Yacht makes debut at METS 2021

Digital Yacht will introduce NavAlert at METS 2021. It’s a new, universal monitoring and alert solution for boat systems capable of monitoring any parameter on the boat’s NMEA 2000 network. This could include engine or generator data such as temperature and pressure, navigation data such as depth, position, AIS, speed or wind or even the status of simple connected devices like pumps and switches. Custom alarm levels can be set and NavAlert will provide audible and visual alerts as well as logging the data and alerts.

It connects anywhere on the NMEA 2000 network and also takes power from this connection so installation is super simple. A local WiFi network is created by NavAlert so setup is possible via any smart phone, tablet or PC. Simply choose the parameter you want to monitor and set an alarm level. Multiple parameters can be monitored. NavAlert offers audible alerts through the main unit as well as integrating with a supplied dash/cockpit mounted audible and visual alarm. Alerts are also relayed back to the NMEA 2000 bus and will pop up as a display window on compatible multi function displays such as those from Garmin.

Integrated into NavAlert is a custom alarm for anchor drift using an algorithm to calculate the optimum drift radius based on depth and the scope of the chain for reliable notifications. There’s also an anti collision alarm based on CPA (closest point of approach) and TCPA (time to closest point of approach) AIS data from a connected AIS. These alerts can also be monitored through the wireless interface with attractive graphical displays of current status.

Alarms can also generate an SMS message which can be relayed through Digital Yacht’s 4GXtream internet connectivity solution allowing remote monitoring – great for feeling secure that the anchor is holding well when enjoying a lunch ashore. There’s also a dedicated MOB (man over board) feature where a simple switch can activate a synthetic AIS MOB SART message on the network allowing connected devices to activate their MOB features.

NavAlert is universal, using the industry standard NMEA 2000 data protocol so will integrate with all leading brands and systems.  Digital Yacht will also introduce the NavChat accessory in early 2022 which will offer spoken, plain English annunciations of the alerts such as Caution Grounding Alarm!

NavAlert is priced at £240/€300/US$360.  Further details from www.digitalyacht.co.uk or download a preview pack from HERE
