Furuno GP1871 Solution with Digital Yacht Products

“I’ve a 40ft sail boat and want a waterproof MFD display at the helm and a PC based navigation solution at the chart table so I can use this for weather, internet and navigation.  Plus I want NMEA 2000 integration, AIS and a terrific price!”

We’re often asked for packages or solutions and here’s a great solution.

Utilising a PC for navigation on board makes sense – there’s a huge choice of software with charting applications and they offer some of the most powerful features for navigation which eclipse a traditional MFD (dedicated display). It also makes financial sense with large screens available (and multiple displays) at a fraction of the cost of an equivalent MFD.

Digital Yacht make it easy with the powerful, DC powered Aqua Compact range and a full range of interfaces to integrate with NMEA 0183 and NMEA 2000 systems. This solution shows how the popular Furuno Gp 1871 chart plotter can be fully integrated. Mount the plotter at the helm and the PC at the chart table plus integrate tablets and iPads. Next generation navigation from Digital Yacht.

A marine PC at the chart table

This system connects the Aqua Compact Pro PC with a NMEA 2000 network using Digital Yacht’s iKonvert USB gateway. AIS, GPS and instrument NMEA 2000 data is made available with a bi-directional interface to the PC software application.

We’re recommending using our SmarterTrack application as this is compatible with Navionics charts and these can also be utilised in the Furuno plotter saving cost. However, any popular application will work well on this platform including the premium TimeZero software which can also integrate with NXT radars. Note the solution here utilises the DRS4W which is only compatible with the GP1871 and iPad.

Furuno GP1871 with Radar

The Furuno GP1871 is a full function 7″ GPS, chart plotter and sounder. It’s compatible with the DRS4W wifi radar (which can also link to an iPad running TZ iBoat software). The clear, waterproof 7″ display features data windows and analogue displays too which makes it perfect as a general purpose instrument display for the WND100.

The DRS4W is a wireless radar featuring a 19″ scanner and 4KW ouput to give up to 24NM range. Connect to the GP1871 or to an iPad using the popular TZ iBoat app giving your Chart Plotter a major upgrade in accuracy and safety. Up to two devices can connect.

The solution now has GPS, AIS, instrument and radar compatibility.
